Jeff Wells Biography

Jeff Wells is the President and CEO of Franwell, Inc., located in Plant City, Florida. He received is undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Tampa and has been certified in various computer technologies through several accredited programs. Jeff has more than 20 years experience in software development and more than 10 years focused on the research, development, and implementation of RFID technology.

Prior to starting his own company, Jeff gained valuable experience in business computing that involved food processing, manufacturing, and distribution at two major corporations, one of which he served as Senior Software Engineer for five years. He established Horizon Computer Systems in 1982 and for eleven years developed software primarily for the produce industry.

When Jeff Wells entered a partnership with Ernie Francise and John Stephens in 1993, Franwell was incorporated to offer a much broader scope of services. More than a decade ago Jeff , and his corporate partners, had the vision to develop systems using RFID technology to provide automatic identification, data collection, and traceability benefits to supply chain industries, focusing on perishable foods.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, since 2001, Jeff has been very involved in community football leagues as a coach and statistician. On and off the field, Jeff has been making a contribution to the lives of young football players, helping fill the need for male role models in sportsmanship, hard work, and personal integrity.

Jeff continues to spearhead Franwell, Inc., and remains actively engaged in ongoing research, development, and implementation of programs involving enterprise software applications, as well as RFID systems and systems integration. Additionally, Jeff brings a tremendous amount of expertise to forward-thinking industries as a consultant and he is increasingly requested as an international workshop speaker on the topic of RFID technologies for various applications including cold chain.

While in college, Jeff was a member of the US Army ROTC, receiving the 1982 Recognition Award for the cadet with the highest score on graded military skills in his company at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

In 1984 Jeff Wells was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, which he served with honor. At the same time, he was on the dean's list at the University of Tampa.

In 1989 Jeff was selected as an honored member of "Who's Who" in the Computer Industry.

Additionally, through the years Jeff has been recognized by various technology partners, such as Microsoft University and GlobeRanger, with certification for specialized training.
